Giving Obese Kids Water to Drink Has Benefits

By: Mark Lange, PhD

A University of Copenhagen study enrolled 173 overweight adolescents in a 12 weeks study.  The kids were given one liter of either water or milk per day.  The kids were encouraged to eat whatever they want without limitations, but they had to drink the water or milk.

The results were that the kids had a lower intake of food and calories during the study.  Also, their consumption of sugary drinks was lower.  Although this might all seem like common sense, there has never before been a study showing these results.  Taking this simple step might prove to be a positive path towards maintaining a healthier diet and weight for kids.
