A Multivitamin for Your Mood

By Crystal H. Shelton, Senior Scientific Researcher

Stress is a part of everyday life, especially this time of year when each day is so very busy. Unfortunately, this stress can take a toll on the body and increase your energy and nutrient demands. A study published in Psychopharmacology has shown that supplementation with a multivitamin can help healthy individuals improve ratings of stress, mental health and cognitive performance. The study involved 210 men between the ages 30 – 55 who were full-time employees. For 33 days men received either a placebo or multivitamin. At the beginning and end of the 33 day period, participants completed several physical and mental tasks, as well as multiple questionnaires involving mood states, stress and general health. Results showed that the group who received the multivitamin supplement had improved ratings of general mental health, reduced subjective stress and a strong trend towards an overall improvement in mood.

These results suggest those with a healthy lifestyle can benefit from multivitamin supplementation. Ensure your body’s increased nutritional needs are met during this busy holiday season by taking a proven multivitamin.
